So maybe it's not really news, but I haven't seen a franchise list like this before based solely on total box office revenue. I love that JP is a contender amongst so many modern hits. And when adjusted for inflation it actually matches four of the franchises higher on the list.

1. James Bond (4.5 billion)
2. Star Wars (4.4 billion)
3. Harry Potter (4.1 billion)
4. Lord of the Rings (2.9 billion)
5. Pirates of the Caribbean (2.7 billion)
6. Spider-Man (2.5 billion)
7. Shrek (2.1 billion)
8. Jurassic Park (1.9 billion)
9. The Matrix (1.6 billion)
10. Batman (1.6 billion)

No bad. I really enjoyed all the movies on the list. Excluding of course, Episodes I - III. Though I would have thought Jurassic Park to beat out Shrek.
