JP IV plot from Dark Horizions

Post by TheDinosaurMan »

Looking at Dark Horizions today they had a report from IMDb about the plot of JPIV and it sounds like what we've been hearing of for a few months now. I think this will make a great movie and a fitting end to the series if true. Enjoy.

Jurassic Park IV: The first rumoured synopsis of the dino flick is up at the IMDb and here's a copy - be sceptical folks: "65 million years ago, a terrible disease plauged the Earth which brought about the extinction of the dinosaurs. In the early eighties, when InGen cloned the dinosaurs, they also brought this disease back with them and it has been present ever since before Jurassic Park (thus explaining the sick Triceratops and Brachiosaur). Now this disease has become fully active in the dinosaurs and they're all getting very ill. When dinosaur carcasses start washing up on the shore of Costa Rica, a team (including Alan Grant) is called out to find out what's going on. They head to the islands to study the dinosaurs and find out about the disease, known as DX. They also discover the disease is transferable to humans and could possibly bring on our own extinction". Thanks 'Penis of the Infinite'.

Seems like it might be alright. Nice to see that they're bringing in that "DX" disease from the novels (even though in the books, that was a modern-day disease from the same source as mad-cow disease). Still, I wouldn't put much stock in a plot synopsis contributed by a guy calling himself Penis of the Infinite. >.>

That sounds good. Now, they need to add a lot on top of that if thats the truth. That should just be the basic plot. They need to add on top of that and add a shitload more.

Sean Archer of Dans' JP3 Page forums made that up and posted it at IMDB.

So I'm guessing we now have a positive ID on Penis of the Infinite? >.> I'm sorry, I just think that's a really stupid name.

I don't think that's him. I believe he just sent it to IMDB, and the Penis guy saw it there and sent it to Dark Horizons.

Honestly? It sounds like a stupid idea to me. Will it get me that "AWE" effect that Spielberg is talking about so much? Something you have never seen before? nop.
Dying dinos and putting an end to the series ain't exactly what I had in mind for a good JP sequel.

Besides, the Triceratops was sick because he ingested some kind of toxic plant (little Tim solved the puzzle). I believe they did film this scene but it was cut out from the final product so they could keep up with the pace of the action. (see below)

"Extended: The Sick Triceratops
Though Ellie only gets as far as the Triceratop's droppings in the film, the shooting script reveals the true reason behind the Trike's illness: the Trike accidently swallowed the toxic West Indian Lilac berries when she swallowed a new set of gizzard stones (rocks that dinosaurs swallowed to help mash their food). Though the scene solves a problem that many have considered a plot hole, it was likely cut for pacing reasons; to keep the suspense building until the main road attack. To read an except from the scene click here. "

Here's the cut scene from the script: http://www.jpdatabase.net/jurassic/cuts_ts.shtml

And why do you say the brachio was sick? I sometimes sneeze too and aren't necessarily sick...

I believe in Oviraptor... this is just a bunch of rubberish made up by some kid.
