Oh it's certainly more complex than JP3's plot rehash. It's just that it sounds like John Sayles went a little coo-coo with the sci-fi nonsense.
I don't get why everyone's getting so steamed over this, most of you do realize that this is probably far from the final draft. I bet you that the final version will use some of the bizzarre twists of this plot, but they will probably tone down the ridiculousness. They have to do something that the audience will not expect, otherwise, JP4 isn't going to be that interesting.

It's the biggest piece of steaming pile of crap I have seen thus far. It makes me actually appreciate JP3 and realize it had a far greater plot than that.
In addition: to quote Jay Sherman from the TV Show, The Critic...
IT STINKS!!!!!

JP3 didn't have a great plot, it was just a rehash. Not much thought put into it at all, that's part of the reason why it was so predictable.
This is still just the 2nd. draft of the JP4 script, it may sound ridiculous, but I think it sounds ridiculous in a good way. Screen writers usually come up with some off the wall concepts in the earlier drafts just to see how far they can explore certain concepts. By the final draft, they have everything well placed most of the time. This sounds like it's just an early revision, John Sayles probably has 2 or 3 more revisions to make until he reaches a final draft.

If Michael Crichton were dead, he would be turning over in his grave.

I think you guys are being way too harsh.
It sounds like something totally new and it could turn into something truely awsome.

JP4 was pretty much doomed to suck no matter what. That's just a given when you stretch a franchise past its breaking point (which...Jurassic Park...yeah). So, as long as they're making crap, they may as well make the cheesiest piece of crap to come to theatres since Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Because y'know...cheeseball crap ultimately makes for the best cult films if nothing else.
Besides, it's not like you're forced to reecognise it. For me, Jurassic Park ended when the Pteranodon spread its wings and the credits rolled on Lost World. The third film was just "that moderately entertaining romp through dinosaur-land," and the fourth (if this reposrt is true) could very well be "that tongue-in-cheek action (unintentional) comedy hit of summer 2005."

I can't figure out why you even bother coming to the JP4 board so often Nagisa. I mean I have my doubts about JP4 because, like you said it's stretching a franchise too far. But I still have some sense of optimism, a weak sense of optomism. Even though it sounds completely ridiculous. But damn, man you seem to shudder in disgust whenever someone mentions JP4. If I felt that way about JP4 I wouldn't even look up news about it.

I read the review, and I just think it's way too off the wall and way too far from what JP is really about to be the actual screenplay. It shouldn't surprise anyone if it turns out to be a plant, and anything about JP4 should be taken with a grain of salt to begin with. You just simply never know.

I agree with the "plant" theory. Universal must be testing the waters. It's simply too early in the game to be telling us exactly how the movie will play out. Hopefully they'll realize that a lot of fans would be alienated with a plotline like this.

I don't even know what to think. While if there is to a JP4 it needs to be something new and original, new and original doesn't necessarily mean the series has to be stripped of all its seriousness, and I think that that's where we're headed if this storyline continues. Hopefully we'll be surprised and this'll turn out a little better.
I'll try to keep my mind open but I really think the series should've stopped after JP3.
