I sure as hell hope not LOL I heard it was as seamonster... Makes more sense, since it shows a wake in the water torwards new york. And the director got his insperation from looking at godzillah toys in japan he said.

Someone play some Blue Oyster Cult! Godzilla! Cody is right about the insperation. But that's all I know myself. If it's a giant plant, then it would be like a remake of the Little Shop of Horrors. Who knows what the Hudson River holds. It's like the Simpson's 3-eyed fish.

A giant plant makes more sense with the title though. What would "Cloverfield" have in common with sea monsters?

I am one of IMDb's seasoned Cloverfield board members and we have arrived at this...

- It is NOT based on or a sequel, prequel, etc. to any other movie or book.
- The movie is about a large monster tearing up the Big Apple (duh). It will be accompanied by little monsters of some sort (it is debated that they are either residents of NYC 'infected' by the big monster, offspring of the big monster, or something else entirely).
- The big monster is NOT Godzilla, Gamera, King Kong, a Metal Gear, Rodan, etc.
- It is NOT JP-related (unfortunately)
- Bottom line: We don't know what the heck it is.
- Even more bottom line: The only way to find out is to see the movie, preferably on the 18th!

There is more to the movie that relates to its viral marketing campaign, but the above list is the most important parts.
