hmmm...that would make sense, but the only thing i see in this situation that could cut it off, would be another predator, or if the Trike was old/injured. otherwise, the herd would stay pretty close to one another; close enough that none would get cut off.

To SSJ:Well, I could see an old Triceratops getting cut off. I'm sure an
old Trike could put up a fight.

True, an elderly Trike would be able to put up some fight, but not a very exciting one. If it was old enough to get left behind that is.

However, wouldn't the old Trike's cries still be heard by the herd?(sorry for the ryhme) How far a distance are we talking about here?

If it's close enough for the herd to hear, then i see at least 2 other Trikes coming to defend the old one.

Hmmm...so let's say around 700 ft?

Well, I say it is probable if the predator stalked that one Trike for a VERY long time, being patient, watching it get farther and farther from the herd, until the optimum time to strike.

So, yes in that case the Trike would be on its own.

So, now the question arises: would this be exciting enough? and how would it be a significant scene within a story?

P.S. sorry if I analyzed this thing to death

Well.....perhaps I could change it. Say, two Trikes do come and one Rex
draws thier attenion from the front wheras another attacks the old one from behind.

Hmm...alright, that would work.

However, I forgot something. Remember when everyone was talking about the Spino vs. Rex? They said that predators wouldn't risk death if it was unnecessary. So the question is: If they were up against 3 Trikes, would they risk it?

I mean even if they do take down the old Trike, they still have two angry young Trikes to deal with.

So I guess this situation would have the two young Trike's roaring(or whatever) at the Rexes to scare them off. (Most probable)

Yeah, I could see that. The Trikes roar, the Rexes roar back , the young Trikes
freak and run away, and the Rexes kill the old Trike. Or perhaps, to even the
odds abit, we could have a third slightly younger Rex come out to help his
parents.
