Dang... a thread about me and I didn't even know about it... ;p I can't believe I'm envied, but... thanks, if that's the proper response. I dunno what's really to be envious about me, but I suppose I won't fight ya either. ;D
Anyway, I suppose I should let you know just what I'm doing with my degree now that I have it.
For the summer I am currently working as a Paleontological Monitor for SWCA. Basically, I follow enormous tractors and other construction equipment around to make sure that they don't run over fossils, and collect those fossils if I find any. So far I haven't found any. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
After this summer I will be going to San Diego State University to get my Master's degree in Evolutionary Biology. I will essentially be using paleontologic principles in conjunction with modern animals to determine evolutionary patterns. The best of both worlds! ;D
I guess I am kind of living a dream, although I never really thought of it like that. I just kinda did it. Although, I must say that the thing that I am most excited about right now is the imminent publishing of my novel. I haven't said much about it, but I should be done editing in maybe two weeks and after that, off to the publishers. If they do things as they say, it should be out no later than 3 months from now...
Sounds like everyone is doin' some pretty good stuff though. A job is a job, some are just a bit more illustrious than others. If you can keep one, you're already doin' better than 50% of the country anyway, and if you're in school, you're doin' better than probably 80%. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Nah, I ain't livin' a dream, I'm just followin' a goal and so is everyone else here. The people that should be envied are the ones that don't give up, work hard, and just take this life by the horns. And as far as I can see, that's pretty much everyone here. ;D

I'm 16 (17 in late July), and in August, I'm going to start my last year of high school. After that, I'm probably going to college to become a registered nurse. Not really my dream job, which would be to become a doctor or an author, but I despise math and studying too much to be a doctor and, unfortunately, writing isn't always a successful career. But, maybe after I save up enough money from nursing, I'll attempt writing professionally. At least that way I'd have a decent fallback option if my writing career failed.

Hahaha! That picture is greatness..
And, yay for RTOM! He worked hard and got most of what he wants. Keep on rockin, man!
And, Samfan, good luck! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> And, since I can't use "Keep on rockin'" again: keep on truckin and someday we'll see your name on the big screen!
And, where am I...Oh yea, an associates in computer networking and doing tech support for a major DSL company that spans most of the United States. Yuk. (please, be kind to your tech support! And, for the love of Pete, don't let your know-little-to-nothing parents call in!) So, um...yea, whoo computers?

Actually, my advisor for my senior research project, the guy that went to Antarctica to look for fossils and found the dinosaur remains, is going to be moving to Louisiana shortly. I don't remember what exactly he's studying out there, but likely its related to marine reptiles.mach2050 wrote:Landscape Architecture here...couldn't have picked a better major!! But for years I did want to be a paleontologist although there is nothing related to that in southern louisiana...so here I am
