Isn't it already clear that there's very little ways to continue this? I say give people what they want. I say give them Isla Nublar, that is now a center for secret study and new characters, two of them being from the books, get sended there. No Grant or Malcolm in any other part than a cameo. It get's brainless and loses it's credibility the more those people are involved with the animals(just what JP3 did). Just saying it for this time, the mainland doesn't work and has already been used as an idea in TLW(and look what it turned people into). It's either Nublar or nothing. Sorna is old. So, my idea is:

1)The military secretly helps scientists to extract DNA from the dinosaurs of Site B before destroying it.
2)Five years later a boy is killed near a village by a Velociraptor, starting an investication.
3)It turns out that Biosyn is doing secret experiments in the now destroyed island of Isla Nublar, having turned it into a new, high tech, and perfectly guarded laboratory.
4)Sam Harris is hired and sent there by Malcolm's group.
5) Harris uncovers a plot to steal the researched animal eggs and blood samples and sets to stop the ones behind the conspiracy. He also has to stop the Raptors from leaving the facility, unaware that there are two tribes of them.

You got to admit that it's atleast original, and true to the book's style. /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

[QUOTE](SSJDinoTycoon42 Posted on 07.26.2005)

the death of Eddie Carr was not as graphic as it might sound. they showed it from a distance and in the dark so you couldn't actually see much. JP and TLW both did not actually show you people being eaten, they either cut away from it or blocked your view from it. but then in JP3 you see a Raptor toe Udesky and then clamp down his jaws on his head and sort of bit his ear off(i'm still not sure exactly what that was supposed to be)

The raptor was snapping Udesky's neck. But still, that's not really showing a guy getting eaten. Actually, I thought it was kind of funny. I couldn't help but think "Since when did velociraptors steal Steven Seagal's signature move?" Even though it was dark, seeing Eddie get ripped in half is worse than seeing Udesky get stabbed in the back.

Dino Slayer, I realize exactly how hard it is to write a good JP4 story. I have come up with about 5 different plots since 2001 for JP4. I stuck with each one for about 6 months, I would get into writing it, then I would scrap it. I even got 60 pages into one script draft before I dropped the scenario altogether. So, I guess, what I'm trying to say is that you really have to put alot of time and thought into it before you get something that you're satisfied with. Also, don't rule out the city as a setting for JP4. TLW barely tapped the potential that a city setting has.

hmm..ok then...that brings up another question...would a raptor really be smart enough to snap his neck?

the real question is...which would be worse for a little kid? seeing someone get ripped in half in the dark, or seeing someone get brutally killed(i say brutally because that's how raptors kill) rip=3 seconds .... brutal=15 sec and then an extra 5 for the snapped neck

you know...in a way, the Eddie Carr death is similar to Gennaro's death

yeah, he's right, a city can be good if used correctly

I thnk the question is... How "brutal" is JP4 going to be...?

And yes, Eddie's death was similar to Gennaro's...
Hm, how about using some death/killing ideas from the JP Novels...? Like, Dennis Nedrey, his death in the novel was actually pretty nasty...

Yes, they can always use the city idea but the problem is that, like JP3, it has really nothing to do with the books and the third film used only one left out scene(the aviary). Also, trying to do a script taking place in a city may prove to be a lot harder for amateurs like us, knowing that only professionals can produce anything from it that actually works when there's no source material, even them failing to satisfy sometimes. It should be made simple. Nublar is the only thing left with potential. The city scene in TLW was exactly why the audience and the critics hated the film. There's a huge risk that it would just turn into a typical monster mash film, which Jurassic Park is definitely not. The mainland wouldn't solve a thing. Well, I've presented my idea, which I think is good enough to be used, so take it as you wish.

As far as I'm concerned, making a fourth film in particular is actually quite pointless.

Anyways, in order to make this thing to really work and be a bit more organized we should all post our script's somewhere in the forum and then start picking the best ideas. How does that sound?

Dino Slayer,

The problem with JP3 was that it was too formulaic, and rushed. You knew the mercenaries were there to up the death count. You knew Grant was there because the plot wasn't strong enough to stand on it's own, so he was brought in to compensate. And you knew the Kirby's son was going to be found alive. The entire story was all too convenient.

There's really nothing left that's useful in the books. So why try and base it off of them?

Jurassic Park really is a monster movie, it's just that they tried to bring some scientific credibility into the story. But it's not as blatant of a monster movie, as, let's say Predator.

TLW actually did get positive feed back from critics and audiences alike. I haven't read too many critic reviews that state they flat-out hated the film. I went to movies.com to check up the average critc rating for it and it was 4-and-a-half stars out of 5. Which is a pretty damn good average for critics.

You're right, it is pretty hard to come up with a reason for dinos to be on the mainland. But, it doesn't have to play out like TLW. You can make the city feel claustrophobic.
Also, I do feel that JP4 is a bit pointless. It's just that if you're going to do it, go nuts with it. Don't feel like you have some obligation to make it like the past films, do your own thing, as long as it makes sense in some way.

There are some characters from the second book that still deserve a shot. Also, I think that they, or we shouldn't make the story too whacked out. The Sayles script started out nice but turned 100 percent loony. We don't want that. What we need is some originality.

The critics liked it? Well, I guess IMDB really is filled with idiots then.

I actually once made a script about the dinosaurs migrating and attacking a town but it came to a dead end. Also, I had the Kirbys in it but now I disagree about it. They were nothing more than plot tools in JP3. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

i think there's a delete button at the top of the post

there are still a bunch of characters that can be brought in and it would still work

well, isn't using dinoasurs for the military an original idea /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="<_<" border="0" alt="dry.gif" />

i'm not saying it was good, but it looks like they tried to make something new and crazy and unexpected and original, and turned out like that.

JP3 was formulatic and rushed, and it turned into a summer monster action flick (still enjoyable though /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> ) now just imagine the potential it could have had if they thought it out and made sure they had enough time to polish it up. it's the same with JP4, if they take enough time and work to make it good quality, it could still be great without resorting to completely changing it

more like they tried to put as much scientific credibility as they could into a monster movie

T-Rex+city+people screaming their heads off=godzilla (or so i've been told)

but what about raptors? /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> think about it, it would be similar to the compound attack but different

maybe JP4 could also answer allthe unsolved questions too

i think chase's idea was to combine all our ideas and write the script together...but we'll see when chase come's back

That's also what I suggested. Well, it's good that someone already did so.
