Comments about Matrix Reloaded

Post by lord_w_pizzaball »

I havent seen this topic before so I decided to see how other people react to the new Matrix movie. As for me, I think that they didnt have to make another film, coz the first one had a totall satisfactory end. I know that many of you will try to kill me for this but I think it could be much better. It was made onlyfor money, tho I like the Neo vs Smith fight.

I thought Reloaded was good, but not as good as its predecessor. As Sharketh said, it was written as a trillogy and things that are absolutely meant as a trillogy usually have a semi-lacking middle. The middle is just the filler and adds to the story. But, I can't wait for Revolutions. That one's gonna be awesome..hopefully.

My question is: why did they write it as a trilogy although there was no need for one? I mean, well. there's the Matrix we all live in. We think it's real, but in reality, the machines use us. However, outside, in the real world is a group of rebels. add the "Chosen one" thing and you've got your "Cyberpunk meets Star Wars meets some-of-the-bigger-religions-out-there" movie. Original - but is it really that good to make three movies of it?

My answer is: No. They could've done it in one movie. I really think that; in fact, I think the first one was enough for the story. I don't care wether they wrote the two others part back then too, or not; I just see the first movie alone, and it's good. the ending is perfect, with Neo flying off and speaking to the people.

And now, there's Matrix Reloaded. Useless, uninteresting - boring.

Let me explain.

First, I want to talk about Neo. In the end of Matrix, he was "ready;" he found out that he's the chosen one and knows how to use the powers. But for me, most of this was left behind without any thought about it. I mean - he's the Chosen One, dammit! He can do all these things with the Agents, fights without any interest in it (Ya know, he just stands there and kicks some majjor ass and doesn't even look at them). And what's happening in the second movie? His fighting style isn'r beterr than the style of Morpheus and all the others.

At the other hand, he flys faster than a jet, with all these things happening; for some seconds, it seems like he took a really big garage filled with cars with him, following in the air. Why? because they wanted to show effects. It is absolutely unnecessary for the story. Why doesn't he just teleport there? He's the One, remember that! And if he can rule the Matrix (you know what I mean), why this sh*t? Imagine you're in a military installation and sees such an object flying through the air. What would you so? You would send all jets and helicopters you have to stop it. Why doesn't he do it like Superman (he does it, a thing that is rather funny IMO; I just mean without the effects).

Let's get to the next point, his identity. Perhaps I got something wrong, or the german translation of the dialogue is bad, but I heard for ten times in the movie that the One is nothing more but a programme (Not just a anomaly). At the other hand, there are at least ten speeches in the movie that say Neo is human.

(As a side note. All "Ones" are the same; if they are no programmes, they have to be clones. Why, for gods sake, are the other people in the Matrix no clones? Everybody looks different. but in reality, this can't be. The Machines wouldn't clone different individuals.)

Then, Zion. Especially the dance scene. Completely dumb: Or have you seen anybody else than young, almost nude chicks dancing? Okay, young boys. I know, it's a rave party, and older people wouldn't go there. But what's about... not too well looking girls and boys?

but that' nothing compared to the action. Too long, too uninterestinmg. Why? Because we knew what happen. What's the point of a more than five minutes long fight between Neo and the helpers of the Merovingian? What's the point of Morpheus fighting, what's the point if Trinity fighting? We all know that they won't die - at least not in the second movie. Don't get me wrong, i like fights. But not those long battles with too many effects thrown in. (Effects that look really fake, but I don't want to write about this now).

Perhaps I will continue tomorrow; here in germany, it's late evening.

(As you see, i'm german; the grammar could be bad, please forgive me.)

Obviously, you didn't pay much attention the film at all.
About the cars flying behind him, he's using his powers to it's limits to fly and catch trinity as she's falling. He's so determined and set that he's pushing himself to the limits, he's moving so fast that he's destroying bits of the matrix as he flys along (picking up the cars, poles, etc).

And the Zion dance theme is to show you how different the human civilization is in the real world then compared to what our lives are like inside the Matrix. It's like handing the caveman a computer and teaching him how to use it.

Wow..I got the whole Zion orgy/dance scene meaning wrong, then. I just thought it was Neo and Trinity getting their kicks. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Jokes. Actually, I never understood it. It was them showing, "Hey! We're human! We can dance! Bow before the heat we create, foul machines!" ..Ok, so I just didn't get it and laughed at the plugs on Neo's spine the whole time, but..Uh..I found it kinda a pointless scene.
And, sure, Neo can manipulate the Matrix in some ways, but maybe, even though he is "The One," he cannot teleport. I mean, maybe he can't unbend his mind enough to do that, or maybe it's just not possible. Who knows?
It's like asking the question, "Could Neo microwave a burrito so hot that even he couldn't eat it?"
