He has also penned scripts for upcoming movies Tripoli and The Crusades -- both for helmer Ridley Scott at Fox -- and Jurassic Park IV for Universal Pictures.<br /><br />Ironically, the war on terror Monahan is now writing a movie about may very well derail Tripoli, which was postponed due to the threat of an American invasion to disarm Iraq, says the trade.<br /><br />Centered on the bloody uprising in the Afghan city of the title during the American incursion against the Taliban last year, &quot;Sharif&quot; will draw on an unpublished manuscript by journalist Doug Stanton optioned by Neufeld.<br /><br />Stanton's material also focuses on the uprising at Qala-i-Jhangi Prison that killed CIA operative Johnny Michael Spann. It will serve as background for the film Neufeld is developing with actor James Cromwell on the conquest of the Afghan city by Northern Alliance forces, led by 12 U.S. Special Ops soldiers.<br /><br /><br /><br />I assume when they say penned that it's complete? First draft anyway.<br /><br />

Yeah, it's finished. I read it myself, and quite frankly, I think they could have picked someone better. It was quite possibly the worst script I've ever read. :'(
