(First note, because the Enter button is busted on the computer that I'm on, forgive the lack of paragraphs.).................Wow, this is one debate I really wish I had been around for beforehand, but that's what happens when you don't have the internet... anyway, first off, about the pinky toe: It makes sense that its continually shrinking, its already a vestigial organ for the most part (meaning it has no real use, other than smashing into doors) so it probably will eventually just disappear all together. Given enough time, toes would probably just merge into one anyway considering all humans do with them is hide them in shoes. .............. And second thing, another major factor that needs to be considered in why kids are the way they are has to do with the way we're forced to live these days. Just to pay the rent and buy food both parents are forced to work, and most kids need to get jobs by the time they're 14, a really sad thing if you ask me. This in combination with all of the hype of s**, violence, being "cool", etc. and the general lack of need for imagination/originality (TV, Internet, and games all make an imagination pretty useless considering that was traditionally used to 'entertain' the mind) is probably the major reason for what you see today. All humans, no matter who you are, need to fit in with other humans simply because we're "social animals" something that can't be denied. And one of the easiest ways to do that is to go with the flow, and the flow demands s** and "maturity" (although I wouldn't call it that) at a very young age. .......... Another thing to consider, I don't know much about third world countries, but I would be willing to bet that if you went to one of them, you'd find kids having s** at 12 and raising families before 20, and that's because its a necessity. In order to survive, as many individuals are needed to hunt, farm, etc. The more children you have, the easier it is.... to a degree. Anyway, although it probably seems really bad to us, its not all that surprising when everything is considered as a whole. .......... Anyway, if you've read this whole thing, I'll be impressed. I just had to put my two cents in (as usual /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> ). But you all make very valid points. (Wow, that's a sucky ending to this big ol' schpeel...)
Man has survived the future...
Now he must survive the past...

I read it all. Gasp!
Yeah, you're probably right there anyway. I'd most likely have ended up pretty bad had I not turned into a computer geek. /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

I read it all too! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
My friend and I were discussing kids and computers and the Internet and video games. Stuff like this truly is making it totally unneccessary to have an imagination anymore. Heck, little kids can start playing on the Internet almost straight out of the womb now, thanks to sites like NickJr.com. There's no reason for them to have an imagination to make up stories and games as a child; nope, just park them in front of Blue's Clues online and the computer will do all the imagining for them. I think it's insane to have parts of the Internet targeted towards kids that young. It's not like they won't be spending enough time on it when they get a little older.

I didn't say that everyone who ever used the Internet was going to have their imagination completely destroyed. I'm just saying, younger kids are spending more and more time doing things on the Internet and computer that don't require much creative thought, and I think that as a result, in the future we're going to have a whole lot of really boring kids and teens with no imagination.
